Black Bullet continues with it’s next ep!
This week builds on the last one and give us some insight into the Cursed Children too. Also, a bit more Kisara too.
Here’s my review.
This time around we meet some new characters including Seitenshi, the ruler of the Tokyo Area and aide Kikunojou Tendou who happens to be Kisara’s grandfather and took Rentaro in after his parents died. Seitenshi has a job offer for all the top organizations who fight the Gastrea: retrieve a case deep behind enemy lines and bring it to her. What this case contains is clearly something important as if it’s in the wrong hands it could bring down the barrier around the city which would in turn kill pretty much everyone. But as an added bonus, as if that mission wasn’t challenging enough, our masked villain shows up also entering himself into the quest for the case. Obviously Rentaro is still pretty pissed with him for what happened in ep 1, so he spent most of that scene with his handgun trained on him. We learn that this masked guy actually has a name too, that being Kagetane Hiruko and he also brought along his daughter too, Kohina Hiruko. So pretty much everyone’s got a loli now. After nearly killing everyone in the boardroom, Kagetane bids them farewell and makes his way out the window.
The second half of this ep was spent dealing with how society views the Cursed Children. A normal day out for Enju and Rentaro turns bad as they run into a Cursed Child who was shoplifting and got caught in her escape. Watching on as the shop owner, and now police, arrive and manhandle the child away, Enju wants very much to help the girl as we learn moments later that Enju actually knows her. But by this time she’s already been put in the police car and driven off. Springing into action Rentaro chases the car only to arrive just as the two officers execute the girl in an abandoned building. Okay first up wow, that was a bit much, shooting her (presumably four times as we hear four shots) once in the head too. Ugh that was pretty bad, seriously executing some little girl like that. Geez…
Shaken by witnessing this horrific act, Rentaro arrives at the body of the girl, now laying in a pool of her blood, but by some miracle she’s still alive! Taking her to a hospital he agrees to pay for her treatment, which puts a serious dent in his monthly budget now, but he did the right then, sometimes it may be inconvenient, but it’s still the right thing to do. Another run in with Kagetane and Kohina on his way home, Rentaro isn’t in the mood for games, even when Kagetane ask him to join his side in getting the case, trying to bride him with a suitcase of money too. Not willing to budge, Rentaro tuns him down, stating that he should’ve killed Kagetane when they first met.
The last bit of the ep is about Enju as it’s mentioned by Kagetane that he knows Enju goes to school like a normal girl, when in fact she’s a Cursed Child. The next day a rumor is going around Enju’s school about how she’s a Cursed Child, this obviously upsets her and when Rentaro arrives, he’s told she’s gone home. Racing back home he doesn’t find her there, realizing that she must that gone back to her true home, the 39th District where she was brought in from. Going to look for her we meet a large group of girls who are all Cursed Children; they’re being taken care of by a man who’s trying to help they calm their emotions so they can move into society and live normal lives. I liked this scene as Rentaro really shows how much he actually cares for Enju, despite any arguing they have, he still enjoys her company and dearly misses her. Telling him that Enju isn’t there, Rentaro departs and we’re shown a teary eyed Enju sitting in the corner. I was expecting her to go running after him, but she didn’t, hmm…
So overall I liked this ep as it answered my question about who Seitenshi is and what her role is, but there is obviously lots more to her than what meets the eye. Same goes for Kagetane who seems to know things about how the Tokyo Area is run and why it’s so corrupt. I’m guessing he’s someone who used to work for Seitenshi or someone higher up and he found out some secret about the Gastrea and they tried to kill him or something. It seems like a kinda decent theory, but I guess we’ll have to wait and see how it all play out.
Oh and when Kagetane put the box down and it’s learned that that guy was killed, this started playing in my mind.
Let’s take a look at some screens from the ep now!
So that brings to end another ep of Black Bullet. I enjoyed this ep and I’m excited for the coming eps too. I’d love to see some more Kisara though, she’s pretty hot I’ve gotta say. That black hair and her cool uniform… damn she’s hot. So here’s what we can look forward to next Tuesday.
Check back tomorrow for a look at ep 2 of No Game, No Life.
Cya guys later!
