Much like the post I did for the Spring season, I’d like to take a few moments to talk about some of the other anime I’m watching and not reviewing, and why you might want to watch them too.

Ai Mai Mi: ~Mousou Catastrophe~ (season 2)

news_QSs6T0evnR2se4aSo if you watched and enjoyed season 1 of this 3 minute anime, then you’ll realize that season 2 will be just as, if not more so, hilarious than season 1. After watching the first 3 eps so far, I can safely say that 3 minutes is all you need for this anime, any longer and you’ll start developing something bad. It’s absolutely and completely insane yet it’s crazy funny and you’ll die laughing. It’s pretty fast paced for only 3 minutes, so you’ll have to read the subs quick, but it’s a good short anime to watch in between other anime during a marathon. This one isn’t for everyone, but if you’re a fan of season 1, then check out this buried treasure for sure.

Futsuu no Joshikousei ga [Local Idol] Yatte Mita.

With slightly yuri hints and a Wake Up, Girls feel to it, Locodol is a pretty enjoyable idol/slice of life anime to watch. Both lead girls are super cute (I like Yukari the most) and their dynamics work really well together. Being a slight idol anime, it’s got some decent music to it as well as cute and fluffy performances, but what I like the most about this anime (yuri aside for a moment) is the art. The studio at the helm of this anime, feel., is one I haven’t really heard of before, but after a quick look around, I came to remember them as the team behind Mayo Chiki!, the only other anime I’ve seen from them. If you watched and enjoyed WUG and just in genera like idol/slice of life anime, this should be one to check out for sure. Plus, with those yuri hints, it’s fun watching the girls interact. Oh yeah, swimsuits too.

Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-kun

One of my newer favorite studios, Dogakobo, is back again this season with their latest anime, Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-kun. From the get go I was going to watch this as I really love this studios work (Love Lab, Mikakunin de Shinkōkei, GJ-bu), and like I expected Nozaki-kun has really delivered through the first 4 eps. Totally one of my top favorites of the season, this anime will get you hooked and have you laughing so much. It’s such a fun anime to watch and you enjoy the hell outta every ep and I can’t wait for the next one. Chiyo best girl too.

Sabagebu!

quizoxyshin-wordpress-com-quizoxy-wordpress-com-sabagebu-wallpaper-21I also passed up on this one, and man would that have been a huge mistake. It’s pretty much like last summer’s C3-bu, expect Sabagebu! doesn’t take itself seriously and has so much fun each ep. Much like Nozaki-kun, this anime will leave you laughing so hard as it’s just hilarious to watch. Each ep, like I said, is so fun and enjoyable that you don’t really need to worry about the depth of the plot or anything like that, it’s just something you sit down and watch purely for enjoyment purposes. Definitely a hidden gem, so check this one out for sure!

Sword Art Online II
Terrible trigger discipline

I’ll be honest, SAO isn’t all that bad. Hate me if you want, but I’m not loathing this season as much as I was expecting I was. When you really take a step back and look at it on a whole, I’m still not really sure why it deserves all the hype or why so many people hate it so much, but after watching the first 4 eps of season 2, I’m liking what I’m seeing so far. Sure if you want to get into every fine detail about it then of course you’ll find things to hate, but just watching it for the enjoyment factor, I’m enjoying it so far. Maybe it’s just because of all the gun porn in ep 4, but whatever the case is, I’m putting this one in here as something you should consider if you’ve seen season 1 and want more of it.

So that’s all I’ve gotta offer in the way of recommendations. Of course I recommend the 6 being reviewed on my blog right now (I’m not sure about Glasslip and Rail Wars though) but the other 4 are good. I think Hanayamata is one that’s really surprised me actually, I’m enjoying that one quite a lot as it’s just so fun to watch; add cute girls, lovely art, and great music and you’ve got something good right there.

If you’re wondering why I didn’t put Tokyo Ghoul on my list, it’s because it’s honestly not that great. I find it rather boring and the over the top censoring makes is annoying to watch too. I don’t like the MC and overall it’s just… meh. I seem to enjoy it more when I just sit down and turn off my brain for 24 minutes, as it’s not something to actually get that emotionally invested in. If you like it that’s great, but for me it’s not so outstanding.

My top picks so far are the following:
