Continuing to impress, Hanayamata delivers an emotional episode this time as Yaya struggles after the disappointment in last week’s ep. But will Hana, Naru and Tami’s efforts to comfort her only push her further way?
Here’s my review!
Like I’ve been saying for a while now, Hanayamata is one you should be watching this season. It’s moving into the back half now, only 5 eps remaining, but it keeps delivering each week with more amazingness.
So last week as we all remember, Yaya’s band went to an audition, but sadly they ended up not passing; we ended with that last time, Yaya looking shocked as she read the note. This week we get to see the fall out that follows.
First up I wonder if we’ll get to hear the song that Yaya and her band played. Hopefully it’ll be released on the OST or something, because from the few seconds we hear it, it does sound like a pretty good song. Speaking of that, I’m not sure, nor is it touched on, why they failed the audition. From the look and sound of it, they seemed to do everything perfectly and it was a huge success, but they just didn’t make the cut. I’ll get it out of the way now, but that’s probably my only complaint with this ep, as I’d have liked to know why they didn’t make the cut.
The rest of the ep though, wow it was great. Once again I’m seeing the connections between Love Live and this one, and I’m noticing that others are picking up on it too. Check out this tweet:
Honestly this is actually really true. The more I watch Hanayamata, the more I love it like Love Live. While it’s not at the same level of greatness though, it’s still taken me be surprise and I’m enjoying it a lot more than I was expecting I would. When I first saw the trailer I was like “so it’s gonna be a dancing loli series, alright I’ll watch” but then the more I watched the more it was just for fun and I started really getting into it.
We’ve passed the half way point now and with 5 eps remaining it can only get better. What I liked the most about this ep was that Yaya was finally able to overcome her barrier and join the yosakoi club in person, rather than being just a name on a piece of paper.
Unlike with Tami though, it wasn’t just Naru who helped her overcome her trouble, but rather a group effort from the three girls, something I thought was nice as it showed they all look out for one another. True to her tsundere self though, Yaya had to battle that before admitting her true feelings. It wasn’t easy though as when Hana and Naru find out that the band is disbanding, they try to cheer her up, but it only ends in a heated argument.
The second half of the ep is where the emotion kicks it up a notch and things just get really heated. While Yaya’s upset about her band, she was just jealous that Naru had finally found where she belonged, while Yaya efforts to do that all failed when her band broke up.
In a tearful final conversation, Hana and Naru finally connect with Yaya and they see eye to eye with her. Things are settled and Yaya can finally accept things and move on, becoming an official member of the Yosakoi Club now.
All in all this was a really awesome ep that I enjoyed from start to finish. I’m still waiting for what Machi joins the team as it really should be happening sometime soon now. I’m sure there will be things she must overcome as well, personal issues that must be dealt with first, but in the end she’ll be enjoying herself just like everyone else.

Now we’ll take a quick look at some screen shots from the ep.
And there you have it, Hanayamata ep 7. Wow this is really an awesome anime and I’m enjoying it more and more each week. I’m sure we’re all looking forward to the next ep, and I’ll be sure to get the review out for it sooner rather than later.
Alright then, let’s take a look at what to expect next week.
I’ll cya guys in the next post!
